company, which provides the title insurance and settlement services integral
to completing a real estate transaction, is already established in all
50 states, the District of Columbia and abroad. Its geographic coverage
was further strengthened during 2000 through 13 acquisitions. Today, the
company maintains approximately 900 direct title offices, and more than
10,000 agents provide First American services across the country.
International expansion
efforts have also been very successful, with over $50 million of the companys
gross revenues today coming from operations outside the U. S. First American
led the creation of the title insurance market in Canada and Australia,
and is redefining the way title business is conducted in the United Kingdom.
First American now holds the lead market position in these nations and
is active in many other countries around the globe.
